  • People with Long Covid showed a pattern of immune system activation different from people who had recovered from Covid-19 in a new study in Nature Immunology. The study assessed the blood of over 650 participants and found elevated markers of myeloid inflammation and complement activation. “Our findings suggest that specific inflammatory pathways related to tissue damage are implicated in subtypes of Long Covid, which might be targeted in future therapeutic trials,” the authors wrote.
  • A new study in PLOS One found significant correlations between poor ventilation and Covid-19 cases. High-quality HVAC ventilation systems greatly reduced disease spread in the school the study took place in, highlighting the importance of clean air in schools and other public buildings. “The virus that causes Covid-19 can circulate in the air for up to three hours,” one of the study’s authors said in a press release. “The quicker you filter or circulate out that air, the better.”
  • An National Institutes of Health (NIH) immunotherapy clinical trial is recruiting Long Covid participants in Bethesda, Maryland. The study will assess human immunoglobulin (IVIG) for neurological Long Covid. The trial will administer 5 days of IVIG as well as a variety of other tests including an MRI, 40-minute tilt table test, and spinal tap.
