- Cue Health’s Covid-19 tests may be providing false results, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently warned consumers. - A new study in The Lancet has found a “striking discrepancy” between self-reported Long Covid cases and those in electronic health care records in England, suggesting that the disease is likely vastly undercounted. The study looked at over 6,450 records and found 896 people self-reported Long Covid, yet of those who self-reported, only 48 had the diagnosis on their official record. “This finding might reflect substantial unmet clinical need, in keeping with reports from individuals with Long Covid of difficulties accessing health care and suboptimal recognition of and response to their illness when they do,” the authors wrote. - A clinical trial in Bethesda, Maryland is recruiting six people to study the radiotracer drug, [11C]CPPC, to see if it can be used to make better images of the brain and increase understanding of Long Covid using imaging technology including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Radiotracers, also known as radiopharmaceuticals, are small amounts of radioactive material used in nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat disease, including cancer, heart disease, and neurological disorders.
