
An autopsy study found persistent SARS-CoV-2 virus in the hearts of some people who had died after having COVID-19. A part of the National Institute of Health’s RECOVER program, the researchers shared their unpublished results in a poster at a pathology conference this spring.

A new study published in Alzheimer’s and Dementia found more evidence of alterations associated with Alzheimer’s disease in people with Long COVID. Notably, scientists identified a larger choroid plexus, a region of blood vessels in the brain, as well as reduced cerebral blood flow.

The COVID-19 antiviral ensitrelvir (Xocova), was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The oral drug was approved as PEP, or post-exposure prophylaxis, meaning it is taken within 72 hours after coming in contact with someone who has COVID-19.
